PRIORTY TO DISADVANTAGED YOUTHS
Because our mission seeks to identify disadvantaged youths, the Power Hours and Financial IQ Classes are designed to offer additional attention to learning outcomes. This may include one on one follow up to class subject matter, more leniency for quiz scores, and priority to scholarship applicants. If there are students that attend classes that are identified as disadvantaged, the class fee of $50 is waived. The foundational book from Dave Ramsey "Total Money Makeover Workbook" is purchased at cost of $17 by the student for our Basics 101 class. Student must be currently on SNAP, Reduced Food Lunch Program, or Medicaid to qualify. Proof may be required.
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE DISADVANTAGED
An at-risk or disadvantaged student is a term used to describe a student who requires temporary or ongoing intervention in order to succeed academically. Disadvantaged students, sometimes referred to as at-risk youth or at-promise youth, are also adolescents who are less likely to transition successfully into adulthood and achieve economic self-sufficiency. They require temporary or ongoing intervention in order to transition successfully into adulthood and achieve economic self-sufficiency. Often these teens come from single parent households, single income households, are meeting adverse mental, physical or emotional stressors, or have similar life conditions they must meet daily.
